Arvind Kejriwal Arrest

The recent arrest of Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has raised concerns about the fairness and impartiality of the legal system in India. As a lawyer and a concerned citizen, I am troubled by the fact that the ED issued nine summons to the Delhi Chief Minister before finally arresting him, which they could have done even after the third summons. This leniency is unlikely to be extended to an ordinary citizen.

Moreover, there are questions about whether the judiciary and regulatory bodies are functioning according to established norms. For instance, the Supreme Court registrar entertained the legal team of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) after working hours. It remains unclear whether the same treatment would be afforded to an average person.

In light of these concerns, the legal system must ensure equality before the law for all citizens, regardless of their political stature or influence.
